Fun Friday

Happy Friday  we've made it through another week together. Are you ready to go on another adventure with me? Today we will be exploring the state of Nevada so I have included some budget friendly things/must do's in this beautiful state.

1.) Fountains of Bellagio-  Every night, over 1,000 fountains sway and dance to music and lights on an artificial lake in front of the Bellagio Resort every 15 minutes. It starts again even if you don't stay here. It's still very interesting to watch.


2.) Red Rock Canyon NAtional Conservation Area(Las Vegas)- Visitors can admire colorful rock formations on several hiking trails or on a 13-mile scenic drive. 

3.) Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden-   Brilliance abounds inside our breathtaking Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. The attention to detail is astounding. The passionate display of nature in all its awe-evoking glory - quite simply, sensational! Let your imagination wander as you assume a leisurely stroll amongst rare natural finds selected distinctively for Bellagio from all over the world. Admire the essence of every season recreated with exceptionally gorgeous plants, flowers and trees thoughtfully arranged to inspire full splendor 

4.)  Fremont Street Experience-  Located in downtown Las Vegas, this pedestrian mall spreads over five blocks along Fremont Street. Home to many casinos and hotels—including Golden Gate Hotel and Casino and Binion’s Gambling Hall and Hotel—it's also known for jaw-dropping shows and fun activities, from free concerts to the 12-story SlotZilla Zipline. Come just before evening to catch Viva Vision, a light and sound show that takes place on the world’s largest video screen—an LED canopy that spans 130,000 square feet. To make sure you don't miss any of the highlights, there's a variety of day and night walking tours available.  

5.)Hoover Dam-( Boulder City)-   Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between Arizona and Nevada. Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead, and is located near Boulder City, Nevada. Paid parking, visitor center and guided tours.  Don't forget while you're there to go see the Hoover Dam Bypass near Las Vegas The 2,000-foot-long bridge spans the Colorado River canyon. As the world's highest concrete arch bridge, it shows off spectacular views of Hoover Dam.

6.) Valley of Fire State Park(Overton)-  Valley of Fire is Nevada’s oldest and largest state park. Ancient trees and early man are represented throughout the park by areas of petrified wood and 3,000-year-old Indian petroglyphs. Popular activities include camping, hiking, picnicking and photography. The park offers a full-scale visitor center with extensive interpretive displays. The park is open all year. 

7.) The Mob Museum(Las Vegas) Admission is $32.50-   The Mob Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society. The Mob Museum offers a bold and authentic view of organized crime from vintage Las Vegas to the back alleys of American cities and—increasingly—across the borders and networks of the entire world. Explore the real stories and actual events of Mob history through interactive exhibits and one-of-a-kind Mob and law enforcement artifacts found inside our restored 1933 former courthouse and post office building located just minutes from Fremont Street.  

8.) Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition Admission is $36.99-  350 recovered relics and full-scale recreations of the ill-fated Titanic luxury liner can be seen at this exhibition at the Luxor Hotel.


9.) The National Automobile Museum- The National Automobile Museum is one of the top Reno attractions with a “Wow!” factor you won't want to miss. Our Museum has more than 225 rare, one-of-a-kind, antique and collector cars with authentic street scenes and sounds that bring displays to life. With artifacts, a theatre presentation, audio tours, and a Museum Store – there’s lots to see and do. The Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive near Downtown Reno, on the banks of the Truckee River. There’s free parking in the Museum lot on Museum Drive off of Mill Street. 

10.) Lion Habitat Ranch(Henderson)  

What a wonderful habitat for retired lions, and Ozzie the giraffe, exotic birds, all run by informative, great staff. This was said by one of the guests. If you want more info here is the link to the website to check out what they have going on. 


11.) Shelby American, Inc- If you absolutely love Shelby cars like I do this is a must see. This location is our manufacturing facility and home of the Shelby Heritage Center. Visitors will see a wide variety of vehicles in the Shelby Heritage Center, from Cobras to Supersnakes and all of our current products. We also have a large merchandise store and tons of Shelby information available. Self-guided tours all the rest of the time during our scheduled hours of operation.

12.) Counts Kustoms- If you have ever watched the TV Show then you know all about his amazing cars but this allows you to see them all in person.View cool paint jobs and a unique car collection belonging to Daniel 'The Count' Koker, owner of the famous automobile restoration and customization shop in Vegas.

13.) Bodies The Exhibition Science Museum- Admission is $36.99 This allows you to take a look inside of the human body.

14.) Springs Preserve- The Springs Preserve is a 180-acre cultural institution designed to commemorate Las Vegas’ dynamic history and to provide a vision for a sustainable future. The Preserve features museums, galleries, outdoor concerts and events, colorful botanical gardens and an interpretive trail system that meanders through a scenic wetland habitat.Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1978, the Preserve is located approximately 3 miles west of downtown Las Vegas. The Preserve is known as the birthplace of Las Vegas and represents one of the richest and most unique cultural and biological resources in Southern Nevada.

15.) The National Atomic Testing Museum- This museum is devoted to the Nevada Test Site. A walk through history the walls are lined with information and photos.

16.) Clark County Heritage Museum- The museum is a 30-acre site that features a modern exhibit hall with a timeline exhibit about southern Nevada from prehistoric to modern times and a collection of restored historic buildings that depict daily life from different decades in Las Vegas, Boulder City, Henderson, and Goldfield.

17.) Lake Mead National Recreation Area- Swim, boat, hike, cycle, camp and fish at America’s first and largest national recreation area. With striking landscapes and brilliant blue waters, this year-round playground spreads across 1.5 million acres of mountains, canyons, valleys and two vast lakes. See the Hoover Dam from the waters of Lake Mead or Lake Mohave, or find solitude in one of the park's nine wilderness areas. Approximately 30 miles from Las Vegas. Entrance fees charged.

18.) Nelson Ghost Town- Step into the Wild West at Nelson Ghost Town, an abandoned gold mine located just 45 minutes from Las Vegas. It's been featured in tons of music videos, films and video games, though it's not just a spot for pop culture fans. Join a guided tour and check out the restored houses, cool historical artifacts and a collection of vintage cars.

You can drive a few miles to the east to see Nelson’s Landing, where a short trail downhill leads to a lookout with views of the Colorado River. It's also a great pitstop on a day trip to Vegas or the Hoover Dam. – Tripadvisor


19.) California Trail Historic Interpretive Center- Get hands-on with Western history at the California Trail Interpretive Center, where visitors can immerse themselves in the experiences of emigrants and Native Americans during the United States' period of Western Expansion. Programs and live demonstrations every day: the calendar is on our website. Fun and educational for all ages, with hiking trails for the more adventurous sorts!  

20.) Nevada Museum of Art-  The Nevada Museum of Art is a museum of ideas. The only accredited art museum in the state, it is a private, non-profit organization supported by the generosity of its membership as well as by sponsorships and grants. Through creative programming and scholarship, the Museum provides the opportunity for people to encounter, engage and enjoy a diversity of art experiences. The Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, late on Thursdays until 8 pm. The galleries, Museum Store and on-site restaurant Chez Louie are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and national holidays.


21.) Tonopah Historic Mining Park- The Tonopah Historic Mining Park is on the site of Belle and Jim Butler's original mining claim which started the rush to Tonopah making it the "Queen of the Silver Camps." The mining park, encompassing portions of four of the major mining companies and covering 113 acres, preserves this rich history and brings it to life with exhibits of equipment and imaginative self-guided tours. The park also offers a Guided Polaris Tour. The park collects, restores and displays mining artifacts on the site and in the original buildings. Come and visit us at the Tonopah Historic Mining Park, where history comes alive. We are open 7 days a week Summer Hours - 9am-5pm - Winter Hours 8am-4pm, excluding all Federal Holidays. 

22.) SeaQuest-   Immerse yourself in a world of discovery as SeaQuest Las Vegas takes you on an adventure through rainforests, deserts and the depths of the seas. With exciting exhibits and activities for families and children of all ages, you’ll be able to get wet with the stingrays, feed the toucans, encounter the caimans, marvel at the sharks, take selfies with the snakes and more. 

23.) The Discovery- Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum-    The Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (best known as The Discovery) is Nevada’s largest hands-on science center. The Discovery boasts 67,000 square feet of ever-changing exhibitions focused on science, technology, engineering, art, history and invention, all designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and the joy of lifelong learning in all who visit. The Discovery also regularly hosts featured exhibitions on topics ranging from rare monster-sized fish, to larger-than-life dinosaur fossils, to mind-bending puzzles, and more! The Discovery also hosts a number of engaging events series including Social Science, a quarterly adults-only science exploration series and Science Distilled, an informal lecture series curated in partnership with Desert Research Institute. The museum also offers seasonal camps for school aged children, museum overnights, school field trips, events specifically for teens, programming for early learners, and daily science demonstrations. 

24.) Las Vegas Natural History Museum-   This museum has exhibits ranging from dinosaurs to Nevada wildlife to a live shark exhibit. 

25.) Mackay Mansion-   At the Mackay Mansion Museum, we offer a unique site to Virginia City, NV. Inside the mansion we have original fixtures such as: chandeliers, carpet, desks, wallpaper, medallions, and more! We also off a large piece of property with two vast lawns along with large quantities of fruit and flower bearing flora. We also have a wedding arch for ceremonies and a patio that has a 100 mile view into eastern Nevada. We are open for tours 7 days a week and are open to all kinds of private events.
